i've been seeing pictures of people taking cooking lessons. do i want it? sure, why not. but recipes from my mom and my mom-in-law and the internet are free! wala lang, just a thought.

finally had my hair cut yesterday. will take a picture of myself when i feel like it. ahehe, so fans, just so you know, it might take a while. oh wait, we're going to HK this friday. i'll take pictures of my new do then.

so this is what a bum feels like. major activities involve the internet, tv, books and food. i should take this time to learn how to cook. i should. really. hmmm. oh, sweetie and i mimicked starbucks' tomato, basil and mozzarella bagel. we couldn't find a multi grain bagel so we settled with wholewheat bagel instead. tonight i'll prepare calamares and mango sago since that's sweetie's favorite. i'll learn more recipes. soon. i hope.

yesterday my family went to our house for merienda. so while watching tv, i remembered that mama once went to HK with a friend. so i asked her about it. hindi to verbatim pero parang ganito yung conversations namin. natatawa paren ako pag naaalala ko. ansakit na ng tyan ko.

sweetie and i have been together for over 8 years when we decided to get married. like any other married couple, we wished to have a baby a few months after. finally, after 9 months of trying, God answered our prayers.

i remember that my last menstruation was september, so it alarmed me when i started to bleed again on the second week of october. this abnormality prompted me to check if i was pregnant. first home pregnancy test was friday, october 16. result was weak positive. we tested again on sunday, october 18. the 2 lines that manifested on the kit made us cry. it was positive. we decided not to announce it yet until i got tested in the hospital. on monday, october 19, 8:00pm, we got the official result -- we were pregnant! we announced our blessing to our family and friends.

we decided to have a check up the next day, october 20, with an ob/gyn to inquire about my spotting, which became heavier for the past 3-4 days. it was 11:00am when we met with dra. jacinto. sha advised me that my "menstruation" last september was actually spotting already. she concluded that the baby might be 6-8 weeks old already. sweetie and i were both surprised and pleased. our baby is almost 2 months old! dra. jacinto ordered an ultrasound to check on the baby, which was done by dra. quevedo. the uterus was clear. she seemed puzzled. then she finally announced "there's the baby. it has no heart beat." she declared that it was ectopic, that it grew in my left fallopian tube. we had no clue what it was, what registered was that the baby had no heart beat. this was around 12:30pm. she immediately called dra. jacinto to explain this. she was surprised as well, as i didn't feel any pain when i went to see her. there were no symptoms. she advised us of our options and that we can get a second opinion about the operation if we wanted. sweetie looked at the ultrasound pictures of our 7-week, 1-day old baby. s/he was 1.1cm already. we mourned in the car.

dra. leonardo was referred to us by sweetie's cousin. we decided to meet with her at around 2:30pm for a second opinion. she advised us that she should perform the laparotomy immediately to ensure that my fallopian tube will not rupture, because when it does, i will bleed and would need blood transfusion. we darted for asian hospital at 3:00pm, was prepped for surgery at 4:00pm, and i was finally operated on at 4:30pm. it lasted 30mins. they removed our baby and had to remove my left fallopian tube as well because it was thinning already. the horizontal (bikini cut) incision was around 3 inches long and was closed up by 8 staple wires. our baby was not given to us as sweetie advised the ob/gyn to check on it. it was an emotional roller coaster. our baby was removed in less than 24 hours since we knew s/he existed, 5.5 hours after we met the first ob/gyn.

prayers, support and kind words then poured in, from our family, relatives, friends and even acquaintances. some shared that they had similar experiences as well. my mother-in-law even traveled from bicol to assist us and stayed in the hospital until i was able to walk already. my family visited us almost everyday to check on us. friends and relatives visited us in the hospital and at home. i was discharged last saturday, october 24.now, we are slowly recovering from this experience. we know that God has other plans for us. we were also advised by the doctor that the absence of my left fallopian tube has no effect on my fertility.

i draw my strength from my husband who's always on my side -- crying when he sees that i'm in pain; cheering me on for the simplest accomplishments like sitting up, lifting my abdominal area when i have to pee in a bed pan, eating without assistance; supporting me when i try to stand up or walk or sit; waking up in the middle of the night to attend to my needs. it pains him to see me in pain, and i try really hard to tolerate the pain. i am now able to stand up on my own, walk like a geisha, carry light load like a pillow or a plate, walk up and down the stairs, pee on my own. i am motivated by my desire to be independent again. my husband does almost everything around the house. i love him so much and i'm extremely happy that God gave him to me. he is truly a blessing.

i was listening to my mp3s when teenage dirtbag came on. hala, college memories came rushing to my brain. i remember watching "loser" with my blockmates who incidentally were couples! ayos! so we were seated this way: boyfriend, girlfriend, me, girlfriend, boyfriend. i was sandwiched. i was single, watching this movie, and i was sandwiched. so when it was time for the girlfriends to lean on their boyfriends, i was like a middle finger cursing at this date movie. grrrrrreat.

as i was washing my plastic tumbler, it slipped from my hand and fell on the floor. buti nalang di nabasag, na-crack lang. around the tumbler pala may black paper bearing the logo of the tumbler. so nung na-crack yung plastic, nabasa yung black paper sa loob. an officemate told me na nangyari sa kanya yun. nangitim yung tubig. ayos. dahil nagtitipid ako, pinagtiisan ko yung tumbler ko. sabi ko gagamitin ko sya hanggat a) di nangingitim yung tubig and/or b) maglasang papel yung tubig ko. so nakwento ko sa ibang officemates ko yun, including the people from my team. at kaninang umaga, sumaya ako ng sobra sobra sobra! my team bought me a new tumbler! wahoo! it's bigger than my old one! ansaya saya ko kasi nilagyan pa nila ng messages tas may giant shiny thingymajig pa tas may mga paper folded stars basta ang saya! thank you admin! haylovemyteam!

r.i.p. old tumbler of more than 4 years. may memories pa yun ng ortigas days namin sa bank hehe!
